Train the Trainer Seminars 2009
2009 Up-date

NCADC has funding to run three new seminars during Autumn 2009 and these will be in Cardiff, Newcastle and Oxford.  The dates are not decided upon yet and won't be decided upon until Jilah (Seminar provider) has had her baby (due in April).  Once the baby is born and the demands of mother-hood become clear, I will know when best to shedule the new seminars and this will be posted on this website May/June time.  If you would like to attend any of the seminars in Cardiff, Newcastle or Oxford, please notify me on  This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it and I will put you on my list of people to contact when when the dates have been decided upon.

We are currently also trying to raise the funds to bring more new seminars to  Leicester, Brighton, Belfast and other cities where there is a demand in addition to running follow on development seminars for the cities that have already had one seminar, but until we have been granted more substantial funding, we cannot schedule this in.  Please watch this space for updates on this and email me, Jilah, if you wish to be put on a list of people that I will notify should we get further funding.    If you feel that your city would benefit from a seminar, please email me.    If there is enough demand and we are successful in our bid for more substantial funding, then depending upon the demand, we will put it on our proposed schedule for 2009/10.

Please watch this space.

About NCADC's Train-the-Trainer project
farhatapril2b&w.jpgThe National Coalition of Anti-Deportation Campaigns (NCADC) gives advice and support about anti-deportation campaigns, raises public awareness of the effects of inhumane and unjust immigration policy, and lobbies for change. NCADC has two workers, each dealing with inquiries from 300+ people facing deportation each month - our resources are streched.

In 2005, NCADC started giving workshops on how to set up an anti-deportation campaign which has helped enable communities to build up their own capacity to establish campaigns. Over 1,500 people have attended the NCADC workshops - many new campaigns have been established and the "community of resistance" has swelled as a result. See dates for NCADC workshops here.

But it's still not nearly enough to meet the needs of those facing deportation who need advice about establishing anti-deportation campaigns.

With help from Barrow Cadbury , NCADC set up the "Train-the-Trainer" project to train and support people to hold their own anti-deportation campaign workshops in their communities. Train-the-Trainer is multiplying the benefits of the workshops by increasing capacity within the communities. The Train-the-Trainer seminar programme has been developed by an Advisory Panel of experienced campaigners.

The NCADC "Train-the-Trainer" project
  • 6 regional Train-the-Trainer seminars around the UK
  • On-going support for “trainers” giving workshops in their communities
  • Train-the-Trainer “tools” and facilitated self-help network of “trainers”
mansoor2.gif"NCADC's workshop helped me establish my own anti-deportation campaign.  Train-the-Trainer will mean more workshops are held around the country.  I want to use my time and experience by helping others to set up their own campaigns, especially within the Pakistani community in Manchester.  So I'm going to become a "trainer" by attending a Train-the-Trainer seminar."
